I want to do this to at least one door in my house.
Why am I not surprised that a DIY Red Bull recipe came out of Williamsburg Brooklyn NYC. Actual quote from interview: “Oleo Saccharum is a magical syrup made from citrus peels and sugar hanging out for a week”. How hipster can you get?!

This is one of my favorite household cleaners. I love vinegar and honestly don’t mind the smell, but my husband hates the smell of vinegar with a passion. I also love the smell of citrus. You can use lemon, orange or a combination for this recipe.
- Save up scraps of citrus peels. If it takes awhile, just freeze them until you have enough. It only takes me a couple of days.
- Place the peels in a glass jar and pour just enough salt in to coat the peels. The salt draws the oils out of the peels. Cover your jar, give it a shake and let the peels sit for an hour or longer.
- Fill your jar with all vinegar or half vinegar/half water. I use all vinegar.
- Tuck your jars out of harms way and forget about them for 2-3 weeks. Strain the vinegar and you have a powerful household cleaner that doesn’t smell like vinegar but refreshing, citrus.
This video on how to make a emergency Butter Candle is both awesome as well as disconcerting. This just makes me realize how much energy is in a small bit of butter.
