The person behind the product strategy.
I'm Joe Talaiver — a K-12 EdTech product leader with 17+ years of experience building edtech products that schools actually use. My work sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and institutional scale: the messy, deeply human problem of getting technology to work reliably inside 35 million K-12 classrooms.
I currently lead the full product scope at Vivi — a K-12 platform spanning wireless presentation, digital signage, emergency alerts, device monitoring, and live captions. I own the roadmap, drive feature definition, and manage prioritization across all product lines. My day-to-day is equal parts customer empathy, engineering negotiation, and ruthless prioritization under real constraints.
Before Vivi, I spent years at Promethean, where I was part of the team that built the ActivPanel series from early-stage hardware into a $650M cumulative revenue product and a category-defining device shipped to 150+ countries. I saw firsthand what it takes to bring a complex hardware/software product through full lifecycle — from concept through supply chain through channel and scale.
I believe in decisions made close to the data. I'm skeptical of roadmaps built without customer signal and frameworks that exist for the sake of process. I care about the quality of the thing being built, the team building it, and the problem it solves for the person on the other end.
When I'm not working the product, I'm working on how to build better product organizations — better intake, cleaner prioritization, and governance that actually helps engineering rather than slowing it down.
